Frequently asked questions about hiring foreigners in Poland

How long does it take to obtain a work permit in Wrocław?

The waiting time depends on the type of permit and the workload of the office. A standard Type A work permit application is processed within 1 to 3 months. In justified cases it is possible to apply for expedited processing. The declaration of employment is typically registered within 7–14 days.

Can a foreigner work in Poland without a permit?

Yes — citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Armenia can be employed under the simplified declaration procedure (for up to 24 months). EU/EEA citizens can work in Poland without any additional formalities.

What is the difference between a work permit and a declaration?

The declaration is the simplified route — faster, available only for selected nationalities and for up to 24 months. A work permit (Type A, B, C…) is the full procedure, granting the right to work for 3 years. We help you choose the right path.

Is the governor's opinion always required?

Not always. The governor's labour market test is required for a Type A permit unless the worker's occupation is on the Dolnośląskie shortage occupation list. We check this before submitting the application to save time and money.

What penalties face an employer who illegally employs a foreigner?

An employer can be fined up to PLN 30,000 and, in cases of repeated violations, banned from applying for EU subsidies. The Border Guard regularly inspects workplaces. It is important for documentation to be complete and up to date.

How much does full legalisation support through Danexis cost?

The cost depends on the type of procedure. Declaration registration — PLN 300, work permit application — PLN 500, residence and work permit — PLN 2,000 net. Volume discounts are available when handling multiple employees simultaneously.
